Photography Focus – Matt Hillier

Matt Hillier is a locally based photographer, who alongside carrying out various projects for Switch, has previous credentials ranging from Camera work on a number of BBC and Channel 4 produced comedy series (including Green Wing, Mitchell & Webb and Pulling) to product shot work for the R.N.L.I. Most recently Matt has worked on the hit series ‘Benidorm’ for ITV, and finished as runner-up in Brixton’s esteemed monthly photo competition.

Matt shot one of Switch’s first ever fashion shoots back in 2007, inside the disused old Newport cinema. After Switch were granted special permission to use the building, which still stands empty now, Matt scouted round the location looking for the best areas to shoot the array of clothes earmarked for the shoot – which included clothing from Carhartt, Fenchurch, Dickies and Howies. The resulting pictures were used for Switch print and press articles numerous times.

He has also taken photos for one of our local brands Wight Trash, documenting much of the recent rebuilding work that was undertaken at Ventnor Skate Park after funding was raised by local skater and Wight Trash founder John Cattle.
