Obey Clothing – Ten Year Anniversary Collection

The Obey street art campaign was started by Shepard Fairey way back in 1989, and as its influence and worldwide reach began to gather pace, it was decided to launch an Obey Clothing range. Shepard met with designer Mike Ternosky in the summer of 2000, where they began to work on a range. A lot of the early designs were naturally heavily graphics based and mainly aimed at t-shirts, but the art and music influence that had originally inspired the Obey movement 11 years previously were clear to see.
Ten years on, and Obey has become a global phenomenon. Shepard Fairey’s artwork has seen him produce iconic piecesĀ such as the ‘Hope’ campaign for President Obama’s 2008 candidacy, alongside which he has completed Obey installations all over the world including a large amount of work to support the restoration of Venice in 2009. The Obey Clothing line has blown up in its own right, and is now stocked in some of the most high profile streetwear and fashion stores around the globe.
To mark the 10 years milestone Obey Clothing have dug through their archives and are re-issuing some of their original graphics from the very first Obey catalogue. These timeless graphics are being produced on a limited run of t-shirts, and will be available in the UK mid July. We will have a number of these designs available as soon as they hit our shores, so keep checking back for updates!
